Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins

Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.

It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans--except Katniss.

The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss's willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels' Mockingjay--no matter what the personal cost.

Cover
From the cover, you totally get this Hungergames feeling, but if you're not familiar with these series, I understand you'll get the feeling it's about birds. Although, there are SO MANY covers of these books, so you'll get to pick the one you like! I picked the one on the right from the library at my school, but I would have preferred the one on the left since that gives off more of a feel.

Katniss
UGh, I hated Katniss so much. All she does is whine and whine about 'what guy she's going to choose(!)', and that she wishes she would have been dead, bla bla bla. I was so annoyed at times I would literally just have stopped. I prefer a strong, sarcastic and sassy character who knows what she wants. Katniss is strong, she sure is, but her humor is so 'humorless' it was just annoying.
When her friend died, she didn't even react? Like, I knew they were being chased and all, but not even one thought? Not even one tear? It really annoyed me.

Peeta
I LOVE PEETA, I've always preferred Peeta over Gale. Sad thing is, he only appeared on page 150(? I think), fully hijacked (memories changed), AND THAT MADE ME SO PISSED. I knew it was going to happen, I've seen the movies, but I was still so annoyed at this decision, even though it did make it more interesting to read.

Gale
Ugh, him again. Honestly, I truly feel like Gale is just a side character and is kind of a leftover from Katniss. He's constantly jealous when Katniss just talks to a guy. The only part where I actually liked him, was when he started taking distance from Katniss, telling her to (finally) choose. He truly is a male version of Katniss, maybe that's why I didn't like him so much.

Storyline
I loved the story though (excluding the parts where I could kill Katniss), but it's a bit boring in the beginning. I felt like the action finally came on page 200, where they finally going to do something. New characters where added, new characters died, it was all very confusing but it had a strong end.

Ending
Seriously? What kind of ending was that? Katniss again thinking she had to die and being okay with it, because she did something I really didn't get. It was a great plottwist though, wow, if I hadn't seen the movies I would definitely be so surprised but also so confused. Snow's secrets were finally revealed, but I really didn't get it to be honest. It was explained only once, and then they never talked about it again. Honestly, I don't know what to think.

Overall, I don't think I would ever read these series again since I prefer light and action + romance in a book. There was few romance here, and it made me kind of depressed.
4/5 stars from me, but I would recommend it to people who like Dystopian and don't really want all the cheesy romance.
