While I do prefer Cinder's cover, I am again convinced that this cover suits the book. The font is lovely, and you can see that the book is about Little Red Riding Hood. Scarlet's red hair is also visible. I am not disappointed.

Scarlet
She was lovely. I was not let down by her. I have seen that most readers prefer reading about Cinder, but I like Scarlet way more. Scarlet is a little more romantic, and a little more daring. She is also family-oriented, I loved reading about the parts with her and her grandma. I found it a bit annoying that she fell in love with Wolf after knowing him for just one day, I do like them together. She does not let people walk over her, and neither does Cinder. Female characters in this book series are just amazing.

Cinder
I spot character development! I didn't love her in Cinder, but she was way more enjoyable in this book. I love her little discussions with Captain Thorne and I love how she is somewhat insecure about her body. She handles the news about Princess Selene well and I really love her for that. I honestly do not know if I love Scarlet or Cinder more in this book, cause every character in this book was just so good.

Wolf (Ze'ev Kesley)
Eh, I don't really know about him. While I trust him, I am not head-over-heels with him.I just do not like his past and what he believes in. I am just not a werewolf person (although I know that he is not a werewolf, he kind-of is). However, I like how he is willing to help Cinder and you can see that he really cares about Scarlet.  

The villain and the ending
Aaah, Levana, she is too interesting to hate, honestly? I want to know more about her, I want to know where she came from and how she became this way. Which is why after reading Cress, the series's third book, I am going to read Fairest.
Endings of books, both in Cinder and Scarlet, are honestly not that amazing? I expected both plot-twists, and both endings didn't grip me. I am scared for my lovely Kaito though, and I hope that they do more with him in Cress and Winter.

The only problem I have with this book series is that all the books are so long, definitely the third and the fourth book. I don't think that they have to be so long. Anyway, I really, really loved this book. This book was so much better than the first, 4.5/5 stars.

The red cover! It's so pretty! I just loved the cover I had. Not too much, but still pretty. I really enjoyed having this book for a little while (library). I love the red, it makes it shine brightly.

Colin Singleton

While reading other reviews, I found out that many people thought Colin whined too much. I can definitely see where they're coming from, and I can usually spot a whining character very well, but I actually really liked Colin. He was fresh and felt very new to me, and he was a realistic whiner. Yes, he did whine, but no, it wasn't annoying. He just broke up with K-19, so really, what did you expect. 

Other than that though, how can this guy meet so many Katherines? I don't even know 19 people with the same name, so how even can someone fall in love with all of them. Katherine isn't even a name you see that often, but all right, I was willing to let it slide. 

Colin is a very reasonable person. Even though he's a child prodigy and, while I'm smart, I'm not, I could relate to him. I did get tired of his anagrams, however, but they were nice in the beginning.

Hassan (a Muslim character bless)

I liked him. I genuinely did. I liked most characters in this book, actually. I loved how they made him Muslim (I know very little about the Islam, but I do not wish to offend anyone). There isn't much recognition for Islamitic people. And while he stayed true to his beliefs, he was also described as any other atheist or non-orthodox kid. I am glad John Green studied about Islam before writing something either ignorant or just plain wrong (again, I am not a Muslim, so I know very little). 

I'm also glad John made him a bit bigger than other characters I've seen in different books. Hassan is a very humble but reasonable guy. The little fight between Colin and him I liked as well. Hassan is a great character, and more important than most people think he would be. 

Lindsey Lee Wells

What a lovely girl. I sound like a grandma, but it's true. She seems like such a sweet person. Also, that emo phase, I couldn't stop laughing. I love how when she just met Colin and Hassan, she was described as a stereotypical popular girl, but gradually, you started to realize she hadn't been. I believe that meeting her really made Colin happy, made him ''normal'', like he wants to be so deeply. Lindsey was a great character, and again, reasonable.

The Plot (what plot?)

The only, but only sad thing about this book, was that it didn't have much plot. It was pretty much all over the place, and besides the growth of the characters, there wasn't much chance. The weird thing though, was that it didn't bother me. I couldn't stop reading this book. It was a real page-turner, so to say. Some people may be irritated by this, though. 

Just a little warning, this book contains a lot of Maths. I would recommend only reading this if you know at least a bit of Maths. Not that it's really important, but I think it'll be a better experience because of that.

Overall, I was surprised by this. I really didn't like Paper Towns. This was something else, way lighter than most of Green's work. It's a great coming-of-age story, I recommend reading this, but opinions on this book are very diverse, so there is a high chance you might not like it. I loved it, 4,5/5 stars because of the little plot.

What a lovely cover! This is a child's book, and you could definitely see that. I love the wizardry vibe to the cover, and how similar the boy looks to Harry Potter. I honestly can't say more about it other than that it's a great cover.

Harry Potter

As much as I love Harry, there is still a thing that bugged me. Harry (and his friends) wants to stick his nose in everything. Of course, that's how the story goes, but sometimes, he should just do his homework and stay quiet. Nevertheless, Harry is a very brave boy and I loved reading about him. I'm looking forward to seeing him grow up and to seeing his relationship with his friends develop. Even though I've seen the film, in the books Harry didn't lose his character. 

Hermione Granger

Oh god I love her. She's such a great role model for kids and a great example of how cleverness can help when you're not very strong. She was a bit annoying in the beginning though, but I could relate to her. I was like her a few years ago (although, sadly, not a witch). 

I loved how strong she was. I've said this before, but she's just one of my favourite female characters. 

Ron Weasley

I don't really know what to say about him. He honestly wasn't that important yet. 

However, I love his family and the problems he has with his brothers so much. I love how Ron just wants to shine since he's always been overshadowed by his brothers. Other than that though, I don't really care for him that much yet. In this book, he was just a side character.

Teachers at Hogwarts

Okay, so, I love Snape. I've said this so many times. I just love him. I don't even really have a reason why, I just do. 

Mcgonagall seems meaner than she is most times. She seems very protective to me. I didn't really mind her, to be honest. 

Who doesn't like Dumbledore? Honestly, that man is one of the most amazing characters ever. He's like a fairy godmother, really. When you need him, he's there. I want to read more about his relationship with Harry and watch it develop.

I loved the ending! It was so creative, I couldn't lay the book down. The point giving seemed a bit stupid to me, but I have to remember that it's a children's book. Voldemort was not that bad yet, I'm looking forward to seeing him worsen. I honestly didn't want to write a review about this book, because it's relatively old and really popular, hence the shortness of this review. 
I'm afraid I haven't done this book justice, but it's 4.5/5 stars from me.

THE COVER IS SO PRETTY! Totally shows the atmosphere of the book and I love the style and colour in it. Some would say the first book's cover looks better, but I can't choose, every cover in these book series is a beauty on it's own.

America Singer

OHMYGOD. What a 'great' start this will be. I'm sorry, I can't stand her. She's selfish. So, so selfish. Every choice she makes is for her needs. When she can't get Maxon, she goes to see Aspen. When she's with Aspen, she's still so selfish to think about her relationship with him. 

Don't get me wrong, I like America, she's just annoying. She keeps telling Maxon 'she needs more time', while as Maxon is there for her at all times. She says she doesn't want Maxon and wants to leave the palace, but when he talks to other girls, she freaks out. If you want him to give you time, you could have expected he would start talking to other girls, wouldn't you? 

I really hope I'll start liking her more, because I think the series are great.

Prince Maxon

I liked him. He seemed nice. But there was something about him. Like he had this big secret and was really a different person. 

I thought it was really sweet of him to give America time, but come on, so much time? I'm glad he kind of got mad at her towards the end of the book. 

I'm also glad we got more background of him in this book. We found out one of his biggest secrets, which was very interesting.

It's very obvious to me how hard he works, but how little recognition he gets for it, I hope his father would accept his child, but I have no high expectations. 

Aspen

I didn't like him. I felt like he wanted to protect America, and saw her as a little girl. I tried liking him, but I just couldn't. Aspen is also selfish, maybe as selfish as America. In that aspect they are a perfect match. 

In the first book, it was still possible to ignore Aspen because of the distance between him and America, but in this book, he's a knight. There is no escaping anymore. It annoyed me so much, I am definitely for Maxon.

I didn't like how Aspen was treated, however. I didn't like how both of the guys were treated. They were given hope and a few days later America was already gone, of to Maxon. I hope America chooses soon.

The other 5 girls

I loved most of them, until we got further into the book. I found out everyone in the selection is a bitch, basically. Except for Marlee. She was lovely. I'm not gonna say more cause I'd spoiler, but I was really sad when she had to leave. Kriss seemed like a girl, although a bit more arrogant towards the end. Natalie was a sweetheart, but she could never become a queen. Elise was pretty okay, and would be a great queen, she's just not that an important character in the books. Celeste was the most interesting member of the Selection to me. I'd love a novella written about her, but sadly, there isn't one.

Ending, next book and rating 

The ending was really interesting, but honestly, nothing I hadn't expected. I love the South and North rebel attacks so much to be honest, although the book wasn't boring, adding these made it a little bit more exciting. I get why these books are being compared to The Hunger Games, but I honestly don't see that much resemblance. I'm genuinely excited for the next book. I very much enjoyed reading this book and I couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to seeing the characters develop. 4,5/5 stars.

I am really glad I didn't read this on the internet and get it in my library. Cause wow, this cover is so beautiful. The dress, the blue, just plain gorgeous. It really gives off this royal feel, which is a big thing in a books as well and I love that. I love books which covers give off the book's content. 

America Singer (-_-)

Really? America Singer? Apart from someone being named after a country/continent, did the author really have to make her a singer? And did the country she was named after, have to be the country where Illéa (America in the future) is now? 

She seemed like a very nice and down-to-earth person. She did whine a bit in my eyes. Saying stuff like: 'I only have a few dresses.' And she thought it was okay to have two boyfriends without telling them?
My friend told me she was going to annoy me in the second book, so I'm really looking forward to that haha.

Prince Maxon

I don't really know what to think. I don't know him that well yet. I feel like there's a lot I need to know before I can make assumptions. He seemed very humble and down-to-earth to me. He has respect for women, but is shy and doesn't know how to act around them. America and him become friends and she teaches him how to act around the 35 women (then 32?). Problem is, he is unable to feel anything for the other women, and starts feeling something for America. I love the way he handles his feelings, Maxon is so gentle and well-mannered. I feel bad for the fact that America doesn't like him that much yet. 

Aspen

HKJHKJLDHmxncmms. WHY. One way it was interesting to see America being together with a 'normal' person, but I want her to be with Maxon ajhc mdjab. I don't really like Aspen, but it made the book more interesting and I'd like to find out more about him and his family.
There's this 'Romeo and Juliet' feel about him and America. Because Aspen is a caste 6, she can't be with him. Which makes me wonder, why doesn't she just pair with Maxon and skip all the stupid drama?

The royal family

The royal family was seriously interesting. Apart from the king and his relationship with his son, there was also the queen. There's a lot about her that's still unknown and I'd love to see more of her. How she wanted to have children but wasn't able to, where she came from (she's a caste 5, just like America), what her opinions are, her own family. I'm glad there is a novella written about her, because she seems really interesting. 

The king though, he didn't let his son say a thing, he pushed his son into doing things. I'm sure he meant well, but I didn't really like the king. 

 The other 34 girls

34 girls, of course you'd have different personalities. The ones that got talked about mostly were Marlee, Celeste and Kriss. Marlee was nice, but kind of mysterious and I feel like she has a big secret, maybe about her family at home. Celeste, however, was an entirely different thing. Who did she think she was? Why did Maxon stand up for her? Have they met before? Let's just say Celeste is the stereotypical bitch in The Selection. 

Kriss seemed sweet and interesting. She wasn't that important, but I'm glad there was someone I seriously liked. 

The second book 

I'M SO EXCITED TO READ THE SECOND BOOK. I do not regret finally starting this series. It wasn't that long either, so that was great too, I love books that are fairly small. 

What kept me reading too, was the North and South thing. I'm not going to say anything more about that, so you might be confused, but I'd really like to know more about that. Definitely picking up the second book once I go to the library again!

Overall, this book was pretty great apart from some small things. I would definitely recommend this series to friends who like books with royalty. 

4,5/5 stars from me!

Rose Hathaway is still a child

Don't get me wrong, Rose has experienced a lot of growth, but she's still such a child at times. I mean, cheating on your boyfriend? Really now? Of course, I was happy when Dimitri and Rose got back together, but Jesus Christ, break up with your boyfriend first.

Other than her whining and her being a little full of herself (which is completely fine), she is very smart, beautiful and has definitely got some sense in her head, instead of those cheesy heriones. 

She's so loyal to Lissa, and I love that so much. They have a perfect friendship, it sometimes seems like Lissa knows what Rose thinks, even though the bond only goes one-way.

Dimitri slowly becomes his old-self

Throughout the book, you could see Dimitri was slowly starting to accept himself and forgive himself. It took him a long while, but partly because of Rose, whom he could lean on, he started to feel more, even love. 

Dimitri is one of the most smartest guys I have ever read about. Maybe because he isn't a teenager, he was so down-to-earth and wanted to make the best decisions. When Rose told him she loved him he wanted what was best for Adrian, and told Rose to break up with him first, but Rose seduced him, and well, it was bound to happen anyways. I just love him, love how serious he is. It's so different from the douchy romance guys you have in other books. 

Murder of Tatiana

Wow, I know this happened at the ending of the fifth book, but it still is SO SMART. Richelle Mead is so amazing, it all fits together so perfectly. At a given moment wanting to know who the murderer was just so agonising I had to search up spoilers, causing the ending to be way less shocking for me.

Lissa becoming queen?

After the murder of Tatiana, elections for a new queen are held. Without her will, Rose and Christian make Lissa a part of it. However, not able to win because a family line has to at least have 2 members. 

Rose knows more about this, she breaks out of prison with the help of her friends and goes to find Lissa's possible sibling with Dimitri and Sydney. When I found out who the sibling was, I was just so amazed. It was such a good choice! The author is seriously amazing at twisting the plot.

Sydney

I don't think I've ever actually written about her, but Sydney is so great. Even though she's human (technically, she's an Alchemist), she still manages to bring so much to the book without any supernatural powers. I'm really happy she got a spin-off series (Bloodlines), I'd love to see more of her and Sydney x Adrian seems really interesting.

Sonya Karp is back?

After the first book, I was still so frustrated by Sonya. I wondered where she was, if she would be able to get back, and after her former-boyfriend talked about her again I knew she would. So when it finally happened in this book I LOVED IT SO MUCH. That reunion warmed in the end warmed my heart.

The ending

That ending was definitely something. I was happy with my Romitri, but I was a bit sad some other thing happened. What's gonna happen to Lissa now? Will it affect their friendship? Bloodlines is definitely on my list, I'm really curious as to what's going to happen to them after a supposedly 'happy ending'.

Overall, I'll give this book 4,5/5 stars. The ending wasn't that 'peaceful' (that feeling you get when you read the last book in a series) for me. I still love the books so much, they're probably my favorites.

Vampire Academy: Spirit Bound - Richelle Mead

Like I've said before, these covers aren't really that special. I had the English cover, but the Dutch cover attracts me way more. They kind of made it seem like an erotica.

Rose Hathaway

OH my God,  how do I love Rose. She speaks for herself, and is probably one of the sassiest characters I've had. She'll do everything in order to protect Lissa, but is also able to live her own life and to fall in love. She's so badass, the best young guardian there is, and proves that women can also become guardians, instead of living as bloodwhores (Dhamphirs who have sex with Moroi and then let them feed of them). She is always underestimated, and it's so funny to see how they get surprised by her combat skills.

Lissa's growth

In the first few books, I saw Lissa as a weak character who couldn't stand up for herself and needed her best friend Rose. In this book, I could definitely see that she'd grown into a young woman who's stronger than people think. Her type of magic is so powerful and relatively new she didn't know how to work with it at first. After finding other Spirit users, she learned more about herself and started to use her magic for bigger things. In this book, she and her former boyfriend Christian even learned how to fight and stake Strigoi.

Dimitri Belikov

DIMITRI'S BACK BITCHES. Oh my god, how happy I am. I almost can't say anything without spoiling, so Warning: I'm kind of going to spoil the 3rd book for you. After he'd turned Strigoi, I was literally just like ?¿¿¿???!! But now there's some hope again. My emotions get crushed at any part in this book, why can't there just happen something between him and Rose that would make me happy?

Adrian Ivashkov

During the entire book, I felt so sorry for Adrian. He never stopped loving Rose, while she kept thinking about Dimitri. In the end, he did get what he wanted, but Rose still got drawn back to Dimitri after that. I've heard some spoilers from my friend about him dating someone else in the future, and I really hope she makes him happy. Adrian seems like someone who would do everything for the one he romantically loves, but he has to figure out his own problems first. His Spirit abilities are slowly making him go insane, and only cigarettes and alcohol can stop that, which means he once was alcoholic and is still a smoker (although he is smoking less for Rose). I hope they find something that could stop the insanity in the future, except for a shadow-kissed (one who was brought back from the death by a Spirit user) sucking it up.

SOUL CRASHING MOMENTS

Holy shit (or damn, as Rose likes to say it), MY EMOTIONS. This book was basically an emotional rollercoaster. I felt like the writer was some evil creature wanting to make me feel frustrated (which she's not, but like). She made me so happy, but nope, not for long. Why do these cliffhangers have to be so amazing? Why can't they just not hit me so fucking hard? AARGH

Intimate scenes

This is basically me praising the writer, cause wow, this book had like the 5th intimate scene in the series? And while it wasn't the most passionate, I still got this feeling I was completely in it. My heart was even racing, if you can say it like that. It was awkward but was so easy to read through. To be honest, a hopeless romantic like me (lmao pls love me) really loves scenes where they get this feeling there's no one except them and that's all that matters. MY FEELINGS

Beginning hard to get into

I have to be honest with you, even though I've done only but praise this series and it's one of the best I've read, the beginning of the book was sometimes hard to get into. Around page 100/500, the action really started getting in. An old "friend" returned and changed everything. After this discoverage, they return to Court, and there's where I was hooked.

I will say it again. Fan of vampires? Read these books. Fan of Fantasy? Read these books. Fan of books? READ THESE BOOKS. I think they're my 2nd favorite series, The Iron Fey being first, but it's slowly turning into my first. 4,5/5 stars.

Wow, I'm so astonished by these covers. I'm not allowed to buy books and I don't want to (I borrowed this at my local library, don't worry I don't do anything illegal :D), but if I could, this would be mine. I simply can't get over how beautiful these trilogy's covers are. It doesn't give away much about the book though, other than the fact Warner is hurt by what Juliette has done to him.

It's a short book cause it's a novella, completely in Warner's perspective. In the book you'll find out who Warner really is. I read the first book a little while ago and posted a review, and a friend of mine told me I was gonna go from Team Adam to Team Warner gradually with the books, okay then, am I Team Warner? Nope, I still don't like him but I've grown some respect for him. Warner isn't so bad and maybe he and Juliette fit better together than I thought.

I can't say much without spoiling the book, only that it was a fun read and I'm totally in love with these series. I enjoyed it less than I did the first one, but maybe that's just because Warner isn't someone for me and Juliette was. I read it out very fast, it has a different writing style than other books I've read, totally 'Tahereh Mafi', that makes it so unique.

Okay, last thing. I highly suggest you start these series. Shatter me (the first book in the Shatter Me series) might look very big and a lot like other books, but it's original and I read it out very fast.

I'll end this review by giving this 4.5/5 stars. As much as I don't like Warner, this is a must-read for book 2 and I liked it a lot!
