Paper Towns - John Green

Who is the real Margo?
Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs into his life—dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge—he follows. After their all-nighter ends, and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues—and they're for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees the girl he thought he knew..

Cover
The cover wasn't really special, but these books are pretty realistic so I thought it fitted the book well. It has something to do with the book, but it doesn't give off everything.

Quentin and his imagination
Man, I was so annoyed. Quentin was like obsessed with Margo Roth Spiegelman. And, he didn't even know her that well? He was so in love with this idea of her, that he was blind to everything else and the real version of her. He spends all his time on finding her that he kind of neglects his friends. He doesn't want to go to prom, and doesn't even want to go to graduation just so he can find Margo. I don't know why, but I don't understand his obsession with her? At one point he was so in love he wasn't able to live properly and he spent his ENTIRE LIFE ON MARGO. It annoyed the hell out of me.

Margo Roth Spiegelman the bitch
I don't think I've ever been so annoyed at a main character (who wasn't meant as a villain or anything bad). Like, seriously, who leaves for a month without telling anyone and leaving everyone wanting to find her, but when she's found she doesn't even look up and doesn't give two fucks? Okay, she might have been through a lot, but that doesn't make up that she can just not care about anyone's feelings? She constantly plays with people's feelings, like they're dolls she can play with.

Part 2
The book was divided into parts. With Part 1: Margo still being there and taking her revenge on the people that have been dicks to her, part 2: Quentin thinking about where she is and Part 3: Where they go looking for her/find her. Part 1 was full of action and was actually a good intro to the book, and Part 3 was where the climax was and all the secrets were revealed. But Part 2 was the same, over and over again. Just Quentin doing everything to find her, and that for about 100 pages. It was honestly so boring and it took me so long to get through that part cause I was just really bored.

John Green's humor
Honestly, John Green's humor was one of the few things that kept me interested in the book, apart from the fact I wanted to know what the hell was up with Margo. Its kind of vulgar, and there are also sex jokes, but I can really appreciate good humor in a book. Like Radar's background and Ben, oh my god Ben, he's amazing.

Message
I feel like the book really focused on the fact that you can be in love with a person, or you can be in love with the idea of a person. Love is blind, and when you're in love with a person you can only see the good things about that person, and you start ignoring everything else. It also shows that teen's sometimes want to get out of their daily routine. Not everything is about studying and school, and mental health problems are sometimes way more important.

Overall, I think the message was good and it was really well written, but I don't think I'll ever read it again. I love that there are so many opinions on Margo, and everyone experiences her differently, but I honestly have no pity for her at all. 2,5/5 stars cause the ending was such a pity.

Fracture Me - Tahereh Mafi

As Omega Point prepares to launch an all-out assault on The Reestablishment soldiers stationed in Sector 45, Adam's focus couldn't be further from the upcoming battle. He's reeling from his breakup with Juliette, scared for his best friend's life, and as concerned as ever for his brother James's safety. And just as Adam begins to wonder if this life is really for him, the alarms sound. It's time for war.

On the battlefield, it seems like the odds are in their favor—but taking down Warner, Adam's newly discovered half brother, won't be that easy. The Reestablishment can't tolerate a rebellion, and they'll do anything to crush the resistance . . . including killing everyone Adam has ever cared about.

Cover
I have said this so many times. But these covers are SO gorgeous and totally give off this fantasy mystery and sadness feel. I think that's why my eyes caught these books when I first started reading them. I would literally buy these just for the covers.

Adam
As you may know, I really liked Adam in the first two books (you can search up my reviews (unfortunately, there is no review for the 2nd/3rd book in the series), but now he's just starting to annoy me. After the break up with Juliette and all. In the first book, you saw him from Juliette's perspective, but now you can actually see how selfish he is. He wants to keep Juliette safe to the point she can't even stand up for herself. My friend expected it already, but after reading this I am totally Team Warner.

Kenji
Oh my god, this character was so pervy but really funny! He made everything lighter and without him I would have laid it down to read it later. He makes sexual jokes and respects both Juliette and Adam. Omega Point is truly like a school, once someone did something it goes around EVERYONE and literally EVERYONE has an opinion on it. Kenji couldn't care less about those rumours, and he just made everything less dramatic.

Storyline
I didn't feel like there was any storyline in this. It kind of just jumped around and didn't have any great surprises. Now, I get it's a novella and isn't a must-read for the series, but I truly got the feeling the only reason I was reading this was because of the details. I kind of missed Juliette throughout the entire book, but I'm looking forward to the last book in the series!

Honestly, I think reading this without liking Adam won't be of much use, but since it's only 78 pages so I'd still suggest it just for the details :). 3/5 stars for me, I'm really anticipating the last book :).

I know this review isn't so long, since this was just a novella and only had 78 pages. Next week, expect a review of a new Iron Fey book :)

Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins

Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.

It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans--except Katniss.

The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss's willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels' Mockingjay--no matter what the personal cost.

Cover
From the cover, you totally get this Hungergames feeling, but if you're not familiar with these series, I understand you'll get the feeling it's about birds. Although, there are SO MANY covers of these books, so you'll get to pick the one you like! I picked the one on the right from the library at my school, but I would have preferred the one on the left since that gives off more of a feel.

Katniss
UGh, I hated Katniss so much. All she does is whine and whine about 'what guy she's going to choose(!)', and that she wishes she would have been dead, bla bla bla. I was so annoyed at times I would literally just have stopped. I prefer a strong, sarcastic and sassy character who knows what she wants. Katniss is strong, she sure is, but her humor is so 'humorless' it was just annoying.
When her friend died, she didn't even react? Like, I knew they were being chased and all, but not even one thought? Not even one tear? It really annoyed me.

Peeta
I LOVE PEETA, I've always preferred Peeta over Gale. Sad thing is, he only appeared on page 150(? I think), fully hijacked (memories changed), AND THAT MADE ME SO PISSED. I knew it was going to happen, I've seen the movies, but I was still so annoyed at this decision, even though it did make it more interesting to read.

Gale
Ugh, him again. Honestly, I truly feel like Gale is just a side character and is kind of a leftover from Katniss. He's constantly jealous when Katniss just talks to a guy. The only part where I actually liked him, was when he started taking distance from Katniss, telling her to (finally) choose. He truly is a male version of Katniss, maybe that's why I didn't like him so much.

Storyline
I loved the story though (excluding the parts where I could kill Katniss), but it's a bit boring in the beginning. I felt like the action finally came on page 200, where they finally going to do something. New characters where added, new characters died, it was all very confusing but it had a strong end.

Ending
Seriously? What kind of ending was that? Katniss again thinking she had to die and being okay with it, because she did something I really didn't get. It was a great plottwist though, wow, if I hadn't seen the movies I would definitely be so surprised but also so confused. Snow's secrets were finally revealed, but I really didn't get it to be honest. It was explained only once, and then they never talked about it again. Honestly, I don't know what to think.

Overall, I don't think I would ever read these series again since I prefer light and action + romance in a book. There was few romance here, and it made me kind of depressed.
4/5 stars from me, but I would recommend it to people who like Dystopian and don't really want all the cheesy romance.
