The Iron Fey; Call of the Forgotten:The Iron Warrior - Julie Kagawa

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor the iron warriorAfbeeldingsresultaat voor de ijzer strijder

Waking after a month on the brink of death, Ethan Chase is stunned to learn that the Veil that conceals the fey from human sight was temporarily torn away. Although humankind's glimpse of the world of Faery lasted just a brief moment, the human world has been cast into chaos, and the emotion and glamour produced by fear and wonder has renewed the tremendous power of the Forgotten Queen. Now, she is at the forefront of an uprising against the courts of Summer and Winter—a reckoning that will have cataclysmic effects on the Nevernever.

Leading the Lady's Forgotten Army is Keirran himself: Ethan's nephew, and the traitor son of the Iron Queen, Meghan Chase. To stop Keirran, Ethan must disobey his sister once again as he and his girlfriend, Kenzie, search for answers long forgotten. In the face of unprecedented evil and unfathomable power, Ethan's enemies must become his allies, and the world of the fey will be changed forevermore.

Cover
I've said it before, The Iron Fey's covers are gorgeous. While this was not my favorite in the series (I think my favorites are The Iron Daughter and The Iron Queen) it was still beautiful and fit right into the faerie concept. The person on the cover is Ethan, but I don't imagine him like that. I see him as a boy with a bit of a fringe (still brown) and soft features. While this wasn't much of a problem for me, I am still displeased with the person on the cover.

Ethan Chase
Ethan is a very courageous guy. He can survive months in NeverNever where faeries are there to kill him with a few swords and some friends.
Come on, let's be a bit more realistic here, a human surviving in NeverNever? I get it, it's a book, but it's still a bit weird. He should have been dead, but I get that books like these need a 'happy ending' (so do I, to be honest).
Nevertheless, I liked him, but I still prefer Meghan as protagonist. I missed Ash and Puck a lot, but I understand that it's not their story anymore.

Kenzie
How I loved her. She is such a sweet, down-to-earth person. She was very brave, but not in the way you're used to in Fantasy. Kenzie couldn't fight, she used her brain and was there for Ethan's support. She wasn't obviously smart, like Harry Potter's Hermione or Carry On's Penelope, but she brought the female cleverness into their adventure. I find her amazing and very realistic for a Fantasy girl.

Ethan x Kenzie
Their relationship was very sweet, but didn't spark me as much Ash x Meghan did. It seemed too romantic to me and very rushed. However, I think this has something to do with the main character being a boy and not a girl, or me growing up. I was hoping for more romantic moments except for 'I love you's' or (very) rushed sex (which only happened once, and you didn't get many details).

Keirran
While most people would hate Keirran, I really didn't. He seemed like an interesting villain to me, with him being Ethan's nephew and all. Also, the prince of the Iron Realm being a villain, and obviously having to be punished? Cool. It was interesting they didn't use a sociopath or a psychopath, but someone influenced with magic. It brought up a lot of anticipation from my side for when he was going to be himself again.

The ending
I liked the ending, but I don't feel closure. Please note, I was busy reading this series for almost 3 years, that's a lot. I really liked the idea of giving the Forgotten Fae a ruler, just like the Iron Fey got.
MEGHAN'S/ETHAN'S PARENTS FINALLY GOT TO MEET KEIRRAN. IMSTILLSHOOK. I'm a bit sad they didn't 'show' us the following conversation, but the idea is great on it's own.
Kenzie's ending was great depending on her illness. I was very glad her illness didn't 'magically disappear', cause cancer never does, but it is better than her being in the hospital. A bit bummed (actually really sad) that I won't see more of my faerie friends anymore, but I'm planning on reading the novellas if I ever re-read. I'm gonna miss this series. They're so good, it always makes me feel like I'm apart of that world. I actually mourned about ending this. I RECOMMEND THESE SERIES. READ THEM. FHFJ THEY'RE SO UNDERRATED. 5/5 stars

Also, I'm back after my 2 month-hiatus. I'm excited to start writing reviews again. I'm just really busy with school and I feel too stressed for reading or I forget. I'm really sorry, but I'll try to read more since I have holidays now.

Carry On - Rainbow Rowell

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor Carry OnAfbeeldingsresultaat voor carry on rainbow rowell nederlands

Simon Snow is the worst chosen one who's ever been chosen

That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right.

Half the time Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he sets something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here - it's their last year at Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.

Cover
I didn't think the cover was that special, but it was pretty nevertheless. It's just that it's a Fantasy book, and I missed the Fantasy ambiance. On the other hand, it does have the style Rowell prefers, so it didn't really bother me.

Simon Snow
I liked him. That's it. He wasn't special? I feel like I still don't know him too well, even though I've read a 520-page story about him.
What I liked about him, was that he wasn't perfect. He is supposed to be the 'Chosen One', but he doesn't have the abilities a Chosen One is supposed to have. His magic isn't perfect, and I loved that.
Also, I love how he had some worries about being 'gay' (which isn't in the summary, but yes he starts a relationship with Baz), but he didn't feel the need to label himself and knew he had some better stuff to think about instead.

Baz (Basilton ?)
I LOVE HIM. I LOVE HIM. He was so funny. There were these times where I literally snorted because of his remarks. Also, the GAY. BEAUTIFUL. There were these comments by him just stating he's 'hopelessly queer' and that was so nice. So nice to read about a character who couldn't give two fucks about being gay/queer, and is just like: I'm in love with my male nemesis, so what? AMAZING. What bugged me though, was how fast Simon got together with Baz, I'd have like some more build-up beforehand.
The search for his mother's killer was interesting. When I found out who was the cause of her murder, I didn't even want to believe it. WHY?
The vampire part was a nice add too. His sarcasm was great. Basilton is great. I love him.

Penelope
Simon's Hermione. How I loved her! She seems so casual and lovely. She's a bit nerdy, but not afraid of anyone and she does what she wants. And when she found out that Simon was dating Baz, she didn't even care! I'd love to have her as my best friend.
I was aware of her crappy 'relationship' with Baz, but that actually made the book more interesting so I didn't mind. You can see she gradually started to understand Baz more and she starting liking him. They'll never be close, but she doesn't mind being around him anymore.

Agatha
Uhm, yeah, Agatha, awkward. I didn't like her. Whenever I read her parts (book changes perspective), I wanted to have read those so I could just read about another character.
She's a really interesting character nevertheless. She's the only character who wanted to be a Normal. She didn't like being a magician. She was... average? It was interesting to me how she wanted to be someone she was not and how her family pressured her into doing things she didn't want to do. She was a bit selfish and arrogant in my opinion, but I can understand why.

The Ending
Yes, a capital letter. It deserved a capital letter. Cause wow, holy shit. A lot of people say the ending was expected, but for me, it was the complete opposite of that. I didn't expect it at all! The death of ****, why would they do that to me? I liked them. Why did they make **** the villain?
The epilogue was so cute, it is always nice to see how characters are doing some time later. The last sentence was good closure to the book as well.
Still, the ending was really great. That's all I can say, the book was great. (I've used the word great like 100 times this review haha).

I recognised the writing style I love again. Rainbow Rowell is a great writer. I love her view on this world. Her stories aren't filled with perfect people, her characters have flaws. I love her books. However, this was not my favorite book by her. It wasn't that special to me? Eleanor & Park was a masterpiece, but this deserves 4/5 stars in my opinion.

The Selection 1 - Kiera Cass

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor the selectionAfbeeldingsresultaat voor de selectie

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Cover
I am really glad I didn't read this on the internet and get it in my library. Cause wow, this cover is so beautiful. The dress, the blue, just plain gorgeous. It really gives off this royal feel, which is a big thing in a books as well and I love that. I love books which covers give off the book's content.

America Singer (-_-)
Really? America Singer? Apart from someone being named after a country/continent, did the author really have to make her a singer? And did the country she was named after, have to be the country where IllĂ©a (America in the future) is now?
She seemed like a very nice and down-to-earth person. She did whine a bit in my eyes. Saying stuff like: 'I only have a few dresses.' And she thought it was okay to have two boyfriends without telling them?
My friend told me she was going to annoy me in the second book, so I'm really looking forward to that haha.

Prince Maxon
I don't really know what to think. I don't know him that well yet. I feel like there's a lot I need to know before I can make assumptions. He seemed very humble and down-to-earth to me. He has respect for women, but is shy and doesn't know how to act around them. America and him become friends and she teaches him how to act around the 35 women (then 32?). Problem is, he is unable to feel anything for the other women, and starts feeling something for America. I love the way he handles his feelings, Maxon is so gentle and well-mannered. I feel bad for the fact that America doesn't like him that much yet.

Aspen
HKJHKJLDHmxncmms. WHY. One way it was interesting to see America being together with a 'normal' person, but I want her to be with Maxon ajhc mdjab. I don't really like Aspen, but it made the book more interesting and I'd like to find out more about him and his family.
There's this 'Romeo and Juliet' feel about him and America. Because Aspen is a caste 6, she can't be with him. Which makes me wonder, why doesn't she just pair with Maxon and skip all the stupid drama?

The royal family
The royal family was seriously interesting. Apart from the king and his relationship with his son, there was also the queen. There's a lot about her that's still unknown and I'd love to see more of her. How she wanted to have children but wasn't able to, where she came from (she's a caste 5, just like America), what her opinions are, her own family. I'm glad there is a novella written about her, because she seems really interesting.
The king though, he didn't let his son say a thing, he pushed his son into doing things. I'm sure he meant well, but I didn't really like the king.

 The other 34 girls
34 girls, of course you'd have different personalities. The ones that got talked about mostly were Marlee, Celeste and Kriss. Marlee was nice, but kind of mysterious and I feel like she has a big secret, maybe about her family at home. Celeste, however, was an entirely different thing. Who did she think she was? Why did Maxon stand up for her? Have they met before? Let's just say Celeste is the stereotypical bitch in The Selection.
Kriss seemed sweet and interesting. She wasn't that important, but I'm glad there was someone I seriously liked.

The second book
I'M SO EXCITED TO READ THE SECOND BOOK. I do not regret finally starting this series. It wasn't that long either, so that was great too, I love books that are fairly small.
What kept me reading too, was the North and South thing. I'm not going to say anything more about that, so you might be confused, but I'd really like to know more about that. Definitely picking up the second book once I go to the library again!

Overall, this book was pretty great apart from some small things. I would definitely recommend this series to friends who like books with royalty.
4,5/5 stars from me!

Silber 2: Dream On - Kerstin Gier

18161523Afbeeldingsresultaat voor silber 2 nederlands

Things seem to be going well for Liv Silver: she’s adjusting to her new home in London; she has a burgeoning romance with Henry Harper, one of the cutest boys in school; and the girl who’s been turning her dreams into nightmares, Anabel, is now locked up. But serenity doesn’t last for long.

It seems that Liv’s troubles are far from over—in fact, suddenly they’re piling up. School gossip blogger Secrecy knows all of Liv’s most intimate secrets, Henry might be hiding something from her, and at night Liv senses a dark presence following her through the corridors of the dream world. Does someone have a score to settle with Liv?

Cover
I thought the cover didn't have many relations to the book. Apart from that, it is a very beautiful cover and it's pleasing to see the blue. The font is nice to see as well. The German cover, however, is so pretty! If I were fluent in German (which I'm hoping to be in  few years :)), Kerstin's books would definitely be the author I would buy my books from!

Liv, grown up?
I don't remember how I'd described her in the first book, but I've started to like her so much more! Kerstin was able to write her so well this time, and because there were more dangerous/exciting things happening in this sequel, you could see her when ready for a 'fight'.Her love for her sister is so big and it really melted my heart. She is very protective of people she loves, and it's so nice to read about such a bond. Liv was way less dumb in this book, I feel like she's grown up a bit, she now knows more about dream walking, which makes her less of a newbie at it and because of this it's way less boring to read.

Henry
I've always said it, Henry doesn't do it for me. I'm really hoping Liv sees she cannot trust him. There's just this thing about him that makes me feel anxious, like he is secretly a spy or something. Something I was happy about though, was that they showed some background on him. I got to know more about his family (after Liv trying to push him to tell). Liv needing to literally pull these secrets out of him was really weird, weren't they in a relationship? Don't you tell people about your family when you're in a RELATIONSHIP?

Arthur
Oh, great. Spoiler warning: what a backstabbing bitch. Seriously? Who does he think he is? There is something mentally wrong him with him. He tries to kill Liv's sister (Mia) just because she freaking hit him? What the hell even is that reason? He makes me so mad, but I'm excited to see what's going to happen to him. He got hit by Grayson, so that kind of mends my mind a little.

Mia
Throughout the book, I got the feeling the whole book was about her. Which I was very happy about actually. It was about time after being a poor side-character in the last book. I believe she's 12/13? I love sisterly bonds in books, it reminds me of the fact that I've always wanted such a bond with my own sister.
Having Mia sleepwalk in this book felt like such a creative idea to me. Like, dream walking, but there's sleep walking as well? I also appreciated them showing more of 'controlling people's dreams' in this book. This book was so much better than the original.

Ending
During the ending I had a few thoughts. They talked about Secrecy a little and kind of said who it was, but it still wasn't clear to me. Is **** really Secrecy? Does **** just work for Secrecy?
Also, THAT LITTLE PLOTTWIST! I was not even surprised by it. How would **** been able to know that otherwise?
Anabel's infamous line again: 'It's only just beginning', made me feel so many things. I'm so excited to read the final book!

This book definitely didn't disappoint me! I thought it was way better than the first actually. I hope the 3rd can be even better! 3,5/5 stars from me! In this book I recognised the Kerstin Gier writing style again and I loved it! Not regretting starting this series at all.

Vampire Academy: Last Sacrifice - Richelle Mead

6527740Afbeeldingsresultaat voor academicus vampyrus offergave

Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules. She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir's Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardians to come.

Now the law has finally caught up with Rose - for a crime she didn't even commit. She's in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She'll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.

But the clock on Rose's life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back...and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your whole life is about saving others, who will save you?

Rose Hathaway is still a child
Don't get me wrong, Rose has experienced a lot of growth, but she's still such a child at times. I mean, cheating on your boyfriend? Really now? Of course, I was happy when Dimitri and Rose got back together, but Jesus Christ, break up with your boyfriend first.
Other than her whining and her being a little full of herself (which is completely fine), she is very smart, beautiful and has definitely got some sense in her head, instead of those cheesy heriones.
She's so loyal to Lissa, and I love that so much. They have a perfect friendship, it sometimes seems like Lissa knows what Rose thinks, even though the bond only goes one-way.

Dimitri slowly becomes his old-self
Throughout the book, you could see Dimitri was slowly starting to accept himself and forgive himself. It took him a long while, but partly because of Rose, whom he could lean on, he started to feel more, even love.
Dimitri is one of the most smartest guys I have ever read about. Maybe because he isn't a teenager, he was so down-to-earth and wanted to make the best decisions. When Rose told him she loved him he wanted what was best for Adrian, and told Rose to break up with him first, but Rose seduced him, and well, it was bound to happen anyways. I just love him, love how serious he is. It's so different from the douchy romance guys you have in other books.

Murder of Tatiana
Wow, I know this happened at the ending of the fifth book, but it still is SO SMART. Richelle Mead is so amazing, it all fits together so perfectly. At a given moment wanting to know who the murderer was just so agonising I had to search up spoilers, causing the ending to be way less shocking for me.

Lissa becoming queen?
After the murder of Tatiana, elections for a new queen are held. Without her will, Rose and Christian make Lissa a part of it. However, not able to win because a family line has to at least have 2 members.
Rose knows more about this, she breaks out of prison with the help of her friends and goes to find Lissa's possible sibling with Dimitri and Sydney. When I found out who the sibling was, I was just so amazed. It was such a good choice! The author is seriously amazing at twisting the plot.

Sydney
I don't think I've ever actually written about her, but Sydney is so great. Even though she's human (technically, she's an Alchemist), she still manages to bring so much to the book without any supernatural powers. I'm really happy she got a spin-off series (Bloodlines), I'd love to see more of her and Sydney x Adrian seems really interesting.

Sonya Karp is back?
After the first book, I was still so frustrated by Sonya. I wondered where she was, if she would be able to get back, and after her former-boyfriend talked about her again I knew she would. So when it finally happened in this book I LOVED IT SO MUCH. That reunion warmed in the end warmed my heart.

The ending
That ending was definitely something. I was happy with my Romitri, but I was a bit sad some other thing happened. What's gonna happen to Lissa now? Will it affect their friendship? Bloodlines is definitely on my list, I'm really curious as to what's going to happen to them after a supposedly 'happy ending'.

Overall, I'll give this book 4,5/5 stars. The ending wasn't that 'peaceful' (that feeling you get when you read the last book in a series) for me. I still love the books so much, they're probably my favorites.

Pretty Little Liars - Sara Shepard

162085Pretty Little Liars dl 1 - Vriendschap (Dutch Edition) by [Shepard, Sara]

Three years ago, Alison disappeared after a slumber party, not to be seen since. Her friends at the elite Pennsylvania school mourned her, but they also breathed secret sighs of relief. Each of them guarded a secret that only Alison had known. Now they have other dirty little secrets, secrets that could sink them in their gossip-hungry world. When each of them begins receiving anonymous emails and text messages, panic sets in. Are they being betrayed by some one in their circle? Worse yet: Is Alison back?

Spencer Hastings
Let's start with my favorite Liar in the tv show. Spencer is a huge nerd. She doesn't whine too much, and is pretty chill. She's a bit masculine in the way she dresses and behaves, but can still be very fragile and love-longing at some times. Even though I loved how down-to-earth she was, almost having sex and being in love with your sister's lover was a dick move. Like, it was so wrong. She was the only one with an actually passionate and/or legal relationship though.
I hated her parents so much, her parents obviously prefer Melissa (her sister) over her. When she finally did something great, she got their attention, and was way too happy with that. I hope her bond with her parents grows in the future.

Aria Montgomery
My second favorite Liar in the tv show. She's a little more dramatic in the book. She is so desperate for boys it actually made me cringe. I mean, starting a relationship with your teacher? Only having talked/kissed with him once and knowing he's "the one"?(her actual words). She didn't have any problems with her parents at all, and had a sibling-relationship with her brother. I didn't think she had much to whine, but she still did.
I love her style: cowboy boots with fringes,  colorful tops and a lot of colors overall. She has gone through many phases, and is still trying to find herself.

Emily Fields
Even though she's my least favorite Liar in the tv show, I preferred her in the books. She's the typical shy girl that never rebels, until she befriends Maya, a girl living in Alison's house. Maya makes her feel and do things she's never done before. Because she wants to impress Maya, she smokes weed and jumps in a river. She also realised she didn't even like her boyfriend.
After a few moments with Maya, she realises she's falling in love with her. I have never been in love with a girl, but I'm bisexual, so this actually made me like her way more. When she kissed Maya and Ben (her boyfriend) found out and called her things, I couldn't help but feel so bad for her. Her parents are racist and homophobic (Maya is black), and while she hasn't come out yet, when she does, I hope all goes well. I'm really looking forward to reading about a lesbian couple, cause LGBTQ+ isn't mentioned in a lot of books, and if it's mentioned, it's sometimes as an insult.

Hanna Marin
My least favorite Liar in the book. She thinks she can get away with everything, and doesn't even realise that her decisions have consequences. She steals just for the adrenalin, and steals her boyfriend's car when he says that he doesn't want to lose his virginity to her. Like, how stupid is that?
I get that she has some serious mental issues, that she's had Bulimia (and it's slowly coming back? I'm not really sure). And she has this obsession with being "perfect", that's actually gotten in her head way too deep. Her mother isn't like any mother should be, she's okay with her daughter stealing and even sleeps with the policeman for her. Even though her mom thinks she's doing her job right, she is far from that. Her bond with her father also isn't that tight, I hope that improves in the future and we'll see more of Kate.

Alison DiLaurentis
What a bitch. She didn't treat her friends right. I'm guessing this is an act to be cool, cause everyone has that (I did too, let's not talk about that). But I just thought: 'What if she had treated them well?' Would Emily have been more accepting over the fact that she was in love with Alison? Would Hanna have not felt like a "fat pig"? Would Aria have delt with her father's secret better? I know she returns in the TV show, and I'm hoping she does too in the books. She's really something special, and I'm so excited to read her backstory.

Preferring one Liar over the other
This book switches it's point of view. And because the Liars aren't great friends in the beginning, I started to prefer one Liar's story over the other's really soon. Because of the small cliffhangers every chapter, it suddenly got really boring to not be able to read further and having to read 3 more chapters. I hope as their friendship grows, it will become less frustrating.

Even though I already know who book-A is, and I don't think I'm up for 16 books, I'll still read further to see how the story unfolds. For now, it's a 3/5 stars from me.

Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.
Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan...
But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.
Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.
Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words... And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

Simon Snow
Simon Snow is basically the protagonist in some ways. 50 pages in, I already thought Simon was this universe's Harry Potter. But when Cath was reading Levi fanfiction, Levi said something that made me question it: 'That's like saying Harry Potter was gay'. Does that mean they have two big franchises in this universe? Or is Harry Potter not even our Harry Potter, but something completely different? I'm kind of wondering, but I guess we won't find out very soon.

Cath
Okay, so Cath's a nerd. She writes fanfiction (gay style), spends her night at home and is obsessed with everything Simon Snow. She's also a giant control freak. Throughout the book, she loosened up a bit and wanted to do more and more. Going to parties, even. For some, she must have felt like a whiny child, but for me, I completely understood. She always stood in the shadow of her twin sister, Wren, and never got to be herself. I felt really bad for her.

Cath's dad
Well, a few moments in I already realised Cath's dad wasn't just a normal dad. He forgot things, even forgot to take care of himself. I later on realised her dad was bipolar, but this wasn't explained very well. It could be that I didn't really read that one piece it was explained in, but I realised so late into the book that I practically hit myself for being so stupid. Cath is very sweet to her dad and helps him in every way she can, even moving back home.

Laura, Cath's mom (?)
What a horrible bitch this was. Did she really expect her child to want to bond with her after leaving her at 8 years old? Cath literally hadn't seen her for 10 years when she comes back into Cath/Wren's life expecting everything to be fine. And while Wren wants to bond, Cath still hates her. Laura made her father (and them) go insane. I completely understood why Cath hated her so much. Now I know she never wanted any children at her age, but then, go on birth control and use a freaking condom. Don't just leave your kids.

Wren
A few chapters in, I already realised Wren was the "cool one" out of the twins. She likes to go to parties, likes to drink and has had loads of boyfriends (and sex). She does, however, appreciate and accept Cath's personality. While she does want her to loosen up, she doesn't push and loves Simon Snow almost as much as her. Their sister bon was so cute and while they did fight, they found each other again in the end.

Levi
He was so sweet. He tried to make everyone feel good and smiled at everyone. I was so in love with him. He accepted Cath for who she was and wasn't scared off by her fanfiction. He waited for her and didn't push her. He was also very funny and just great. Cath and Levi were like opposites, but they still managed to make it work, despite their differences.

Raegan
Oh my god, she was so great. Sarcasm on point, and she indirectly helped Cath get a boyfriend and be more open. She was like anyone not familiar with "fandoms" and kind of judged her for her Simon Snow addiction, but throughout the book had actually started to like it. She was her 'best' friend and it was really amazing. She's like the typical "party girl": make up, parties, smoking, sex. But still, she stood up for Cath.

Writing Style
I love Rainbow's writing style. It's so detailed and so pure. I could picture everything so well. After Eleanor & Park I had to read more of her. Eleanor & Park was true beauty in a book, but this got me feeling less. Don't get me wrong, it was still beautiful, but not as breath-taking as Eleanor & Park was.

Storyline
Well, how to start. I didn't feel like the book had a beginning. You know, when all the good things start and the introduction is over. It was kind of like loads of things thrown into one big book. It didn't really have a storyline. Maybe because I'm used to Fantasy, which almost always does have a storyline.

Overall, it was a great book with nice characters and very detailed, but it isn't on my recommendation list. Carry On (Cath's fanfiction which is also a book by Rowell) is definitely on my TBR list though. 3/5 stars.

Shatter Me: Ignite Me - Tahereh Mafi

With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn't know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won't keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that's not all he wants with her.

Cover
What a beautiful cover. This is -in my opinion- the best cover in the series. There's so many details. When you look closely, you can see a raven in the pupil. The blue made it really powerful, and the font fits the Dytsopian theme.

Juliette Ferrars
Man, wow, that growth. In the first 2 books she was a pathetic, weak, shy girl needing love. But damn, after this book I was convinced she's not anymore. She was finally ready to make her own decisions, and to fight. She wanted revenge, and oh she got it. She starting using her powers, and learned how to control it. She's not afraid of anything anymore. It was really weird to read, like she was an entirely different person. I LOVED IT. I have a thing for badass female characters, and the weak ones who cry all day don't really catch my attention.

Warner a.k.a fuck yEs?
Oh my, HOW DO I LOVE WARNER. I know I've said before that I was team Adam, but like, Warner? WARNER. That stupid wrench I despised, was actually my favorite person  ever. Because you see everything in Juliette's perspective, she made everyone think he was an asshole, but when she got to know him and because he saved her, she slowly realised he was different, and wasn't behind all the things she thought he did. You won't believe me when I tell you this, but one day, you'll be completely and utterly IN LOVE WITH WARNER, and Team Adam? Not anymore.

Kenji's humor
Kenji's humor was probably the second best thing about this book (with Warner+Juliette being first), his relationship with Juliette really warms my heart. While it's not at all romantic, there's something about it that makes them so close, maybe even closer than she is to Warner. Kenji and his stupid jokes make it even better. I never knew a Dystopian could actually make me laugh.

Adam Kent is a stupid asshole
Adam needs to get a hold of himself. Even after Juliette broke up with him, he still tried to get her back, and in a not-so-right way too. He said things to her he should never have said. And while Kenji was there to back her up, he still needed to get some sense in his head.
He'll do everything for James, his little brother, even losing his pride. That is literally the only thing I still liked about him.

Intimate scenes
Wow, so passionate, they actually made me blush. The way Warner kissed and made sexual jokes and such kind of made me really uncomfortable,  especially after that one part (people who have read the book will know EXACTLY what I'm talking about)., but I also liked it (if I can confess that whoOps). It was like a pure heavy romance. And while it was cheesy, it was also really wonderful to read. These romances rarely happen in real life, that's why this book made me so happy. If you're not a big fan of all this cheesiness though, I don't think this is something for you.

Storyline
Hate to break it to you, this book series doesn't have many action until the end of the books. The first 300 pages were them preparing for the fight, and a lot of romance. It was not at all boring though. I read this book in two days. Probably the fastest I've ever read a book. Some people will hate this book for it's romance, but I really loved it. There hasn't been many action in this book series, apart from the climax. This climax was the best. The way she managed to stay strong through all those things. The ending was really powerful I almost cried cause this is the last book.

In my opinion, this is the best book in the series, the first book being the runner-up. It was so nice to read (come on, 400 pages in two days?). I recommend this book series so much. While they're not that underrated, many people don't know about it. I'm so glad I picked this book series up cause they gave me so much joy. I'm really sad there isn't another book, but I'll definitely read some more books of Tahereh Mafi. 5/5 stars *fangirls*
